Community Outreach

Ojai UMC is a proud supporter of UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. (www.umcor.org) UMCOR provides all types of assistance to local communities and throughout the world, particularly during disasters. Currently, UMCOR is deeply involved and working in partnership with other nonprofit and governmental agencies in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties to assist those individuals and communities devastated by the recent Thomas Fire and the subsequent Debris Flow.

Ojai UMC has long been involved in the work of CAP, the Community Assistance Program, which is also part of the services provided by Help of Ojai. This program provides food to low income residents of the Ojai Valley. Ojai UMC supports CAP through our Ojai Food Project by donating non – perishable food items provided by congregation members to help stock the food pantry each month.

Ojai United Methodist Church is also an active participant in the work of the Ojai Valley Family Shelter, (www.ovfs.org), the local provider of services to the homeless. Church members prepare and serve an evening meal during the winter months at the rotating shelter locations and also prepare and provide sandwiches for the homeless during the summer months.
