Our Chancel Choir meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church to practice for their part in the church service the following Sunday. Working in partnership with the pastor, the music director chooses songs that complement the sermon and the liturgical season or holiday. Selections may include either the entire choir, a smaller duet or trio, an instrumental number or a combination of presentations. In addition, periodically throughout the year the community handbell group presents various pieces during the worship service. Handbell practices are at the church on Mondays at 5:15 and are also under the direction of the church music director. The congregation at Ojai UMC is blessed to have such a wonderful variety of musical offerings from so many talented people every week of the year.
Special Concerts are also held periodically by very talented musicians and soloists who may be members of the congregation or from the wider community. One example is the Ojai Community Chorus which rehearses in our church sanctuary on a regular basis and also holds their very popular community concerts at Ojai UMC.
