Our Music Director, Chris Gillmon, has been an outstanding addition to our church for over ten years. His responsibilities include coordinating all of the chancel choir and instrumental music for our church services and special events. In addition, he directs the choir and the community handbell group in their rehearsals and performances and accompanies their musical selections on either the piano or organ. He also sings and plays solo selections as required.
Chris was born in to a musical family who enjoyed playing instruments and singing together. When he was in college, he began his conducting career by first directing his family’s singing group. He attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where he majored in piano and conducting. He enjoys listening to and playing all types of music – classical, hymns and other praise music, show tunes, pop music and the blues.
For the past twelve years he has been a member of the Pacific Shores Master Chorale and has also acted as an assistant to the conductor as needed. In his spare time he enjoys being the Director of two local bridge clubs and holds the title of Life Master Bridge Player.
Although all of the requirements of his music director‘s position keep Chris very busy, he still finds time to assist the church in countless other ways each week. We are so fortunate to have someone of Chris’s musical talents and abilities to enrich our worship experience each week!
